Worship in Sanctuary Update
From Rev. Rachel
We have returned to worship in the sanctuary as of July 5th, 2020. What that means is that congregational members, particularly those who have not been able to watch the service on-line, are welcome to attend regular Sunday worship with some rules we all have to follow for the protection of us all. We will continue to offer our service on the church FaceBook page at this link: Congress Street UMC FaceBook Page
FOR THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ALL PEOPLE INSIDE THE BUILDING THESE RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED
1. IF YOU ARE SICK OR HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WITH COVID-19, PLEASE RETURN HOME
2. WEAR A MASK
3. WASH HANDS FREQUENTLY
4. REFRAIN FROM SHAKING HANDS OR HUGGING
5. PLEASE STAY 6 FEET APART 6. IN THE SANCTUARY, PLEASE DO NOT CROSS OVER BLUE TAPE
7. AS SOON AS THE SERVICE HAS ENDED, PLEASE LEAVE THE BUILDING
In order to limit the spread of the Covid virus and protect all people from possible infection, particularly the most vulnerable among us, we are asking that everyone wear a mask before entering the building. We will have cloth ones available if you do not have one. Some pews will be closed and physical distancing of at least 6 feet with people not in your immediate family should be followed throughout the entire service, including arriving and leaving the building. We will not have coffee service or refreshments. Offertory plates will be located in the back of the sanctuary. Hand sanitizers will be available throughout the building. One thing that will not change is that worship will continue to be joyful and inspirational.
As we navigate these changes, I only ask that we be gentle with one another. John Wesley had 3 simple rules: do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God. Let’s care for one another during the pandemic by following these simple guidelines to do no harm.
Welcome to Congress Street United Methodist Church where we are evolving followers of Jesus for the transformation of the world!
We welcome the full inclusion of all people in the life and ministries of Congress Street UMC. We affirm that all people are worthy of God’s love and grace, for all are created in the image of God and are beloved children of God.
God welcomes all! Therefore, we welcome all, including those of all races, cultures, or nationalities; those of all sexual orientations & gender identities, or relationship statuses; those of all ages. We welcome all without regard to addictions, physical or mental health, imprisonment, socio-economic circumstances, immigration status or anything else that often divides us.
We recognize that there are differences among us, but believe that although we may not think alike, we can love alike. We invite everyone to join us on this journey of reconciliation toward greater love, understanding, and mutual respect.
