Welcome to Congress Street United Methodist Church where we are evolving followers of Jesus for the transformation of the world!

We welcome the full inclusion of all people in the life and ministries of Congress Street UMC. We affirm that all people are worthy of God’s love and grace, for all are created in the image of God and are beloved children of God.

God welcomes all! Therefore, we welcome all, including those of all races, cultures, or nationalities; those of all sexual orientations & gender identities, or relationship statuses; those of all ages. We welcome all without regard to addictions, physical or mental health, imprisonment, socio-economic circumstances, immigration status or anything else that often divides us.

We recognize that there are differences among us, but believe that although we may not think alike, we can love alike. We invite everyone to join us on this journey of reconciliation toward greater love, understanding, and mutual respect.

Advent Worship Series and Book Study beginning December 1, 2019

Advent Worship Series Synopsis:  “Joy to the World,” a beloved Christmas classic, turns 300 this year. Composer Isaac Watt’s interpretation of Psalm 98 invites us to sing a “new song”–and it is a powerful cosmic performance of all creation being renewed and freed. Rather than “joy” being yet another word for “happiness,” we will discover that the depths of joy can be found especially in the midst of suffering, the work of justice, and the presence of compassion–all part of the coming of Jesus to this world and a message the world still so desperately needs.  Take a look at the short video below to learn more about the series.
Book StudyThe Book of Joy by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama. We will meet each Sunday in Advent at 9:00 in Room 201.  Contact Rachel (Pastor Rachel) if you would like to order a book.
